Do you still have questions about Qiroll?
Here you will find the most important answers to your questions.
Do I have to kick anyway?
Yes, the e-bike kit is designed as an auxiliary drive according to the applicable pedelec regulations. This will automatically shut off the engine as soon as pedaling is suspended. But since it is not specified how strong it is necessary to pedal, it is possible to let the e-motor do most of the work and even to move the cranks visually relaxed.
How long does the tire last?
This question depends heavily on the tire itself and the driving style. Basically we recommend to use high quality tires. With the correct setting and 250 watts of drive power, you will not be able to measure increased wear.
Does Qiroll charge the battery when braking?
No, regenerative braking is not possible due to the design.
Does the friction roll also work in wet and rainy weather?
Yes, the coating of the friction roller has been optimized in many tests for maximum power transmission. Even when downpours and wet roads Qiroll helps you get to your destination faster.
Which tire is suitable for our products?
Tires are best with a continuous center bar such as Schwalbe Hurricane or Marathon.
Studded tires are also suitable if a continuous central web is present, but this has an effect on the noise level.
What does “electronic clutch” mean？
The electronic clutch makes it easier to install. Just let the booster stay close to the tire. When pushing or riding a bicycle but not pressing the start button, the motor starts to rotate against the tire.Once the start button is pressed, the booster begins the power output. The motor adapts to the tire speed.
We will not have the feeling of frustration caused by the separation of the booster.Of course, under the precise motor control technology, this method will not bring more damage to the tire.Just ride more smoothly and comfortable.
Questions about the installation
Do I always have to dismantle the e-bike kit when I want to NORMAL bike?
No, qr-e has a sophisticated mechanism that allows the friction roller to be completely decoupled from the drive train. This allows the bike to be driven in the same way as completely without Qiroll, despite the fact that it does not have an e-drive.
Can I mount the e-bike kit on any bike?
Yes, the principle of operation allows basic use on any bike. BUT not always the standard mounting plate can be used. For special frame shapes (see “When can I not use the e-bike kit?”), We can currently only offer one-to-one solutions. In case of doubt, please always contact our service team first.
Do I have to have the e-bike kit installed in the workshop?
No, qr-e/qm is intended as a retrofit system, which can be installed by the customer himself.
How long does it take to assemble or disassemble the DriveUnit?
After initial assembly, the DriveUnit can be removed from the mounting plate at any time. This only takes a few seconds.
Is my bike suitable for the e-bike kit?
In special cases, the distance from the bottom bracket (and / or post holder) is too far away from the rear wheel. This is particularly problematic for recumbents and chopper bikes.
Likewise, pressed-in bottom bracket bearings (Pressfit) and full suspension bikes (fullies) are a problem. In these cases, assembly is only possible with a significantly higher outlay. The originally supplied mounting material can then be used only conditionally. If necessary, contact our support.
If the distance from the rear wheel to the mounting plate of the qr-e changes, as is usually the case with rear suspension, problems can also occur. If in doubt, please contact our service team.
Which tire should I use for qr-e/qm?
Due to the functional principle of the friction roller, “smooth” tires are best. These so-called slicks have no cleats, are quiet and therefore ideal for city and light terrain. For those who are more off-road and therefore need a coarser profile, we recommend using tires like the Schwalbe Hurricane, with a continuous center bar. Wider tires also provide more suspension comfort and better power transfer between the tire and the friction roller.
Questions about the battery
How far can I go?
The actual range depends on many different factors. In particular, the personal contribution of humans is a significant influencing factor. In practice, rarely more than 50 km are reached with one battery charge. At high support level and steep terrain, the range is reduced significantly. Since Qirlll in decoupled (off-state) causes no friction and only a minimal extra weight can also be driven full-day tours with only one battery charge. Qiroll is used in this case only for a short time to overcome, for example, a strenuous slope. Therefore, the issue of range is difficult to answer and can not be compared with the data of conventional e-bike drives.
How many charge cycles can I achieve with Qiroll batteries?
The cell manufacturer guarantees 500 complete charging cycles. However, as the battery is rarely completely discharged and charged, this value increases significantly. In practice, even with daily use, you will only have losses in the maximum range (about 80%) after 2-3 years.
How long does it take to load?
A full charge with the original “travel charger” lasts up to 3 hours. One speaks of full charge already when exceeding of more than 95% of the possible capacity. It may happen that another 1 hour is required for the remaining 2 – 5% until the end of the loading process. This is quite normal and serves for battery care. Basically, the cells are also high-current capable of a full charge in one hour is possible with a powerful charger. Currently, however, we only offer the fast chargers on special request and do not carry them in the online shop.
How to store the battery (eg. in winter)?
If the battery is not used for a long time, eg over the winter, then you should at least charge it up to half and store it in a cool place. The self-discharge is compared to conventional batteries only very low, but you should at least every three months check the charge level and reload if necessary.
